CAE (C1 Advanced) is a high-level English proficiency exam from Cambridge English, suitable for students and professionals who need English for academic, work, or migration purposes. It proves your ability to communicate effectively in real-life situations at an advanced level (C1 on the CEFR scale).
The CAE exam consists of four parts:
Reading and Use of English
Writing
Listening
Speaking
The test can be taken on paper or on a computer, and the Speaking part is done face-to-face with an examiner.
CAE is a Cambridge English qualification that doesn’t expire and focuses on real-life English usage at an advanced level. Unlike IELTS or TOEFL, which are mostly for admission or immigration and expire after 2 years, CAE is a lifetime certificate accepted by thousands of institutions worldwide.
Results are usually available:
2 weeks after a computer-based exam
4–6 weeks after a paper-based exam
You’ll receive a Statement of Results, and if you pass, a certificate will follow shortly after.
